A Littleton landmark, the Beal House Inn on West Main Street transferred ownership this week from Joel and Cathy Bedor to G. David Keller.
Keller recently completed the first phase of his planned renovations to the Inn and Restaurant, a project that has taken nearly two months. He plans to reopen the restaurant within the next week. He has also spent the last few months interviewing and hiring an experienced staff who will manage the Inn and Restaurant for him. Eleanore Imrie will continue in her position as Innkeeper in conjunction with Jimmy Caro who will focus on coordinating the Marketing and Public Relations for the Inn and Restaurant. Brian Coffey joined the management team in June as the Executive Chef and will oversee all operations of the Restaurant and Piano Bar. Rounding out the team is Katie Green as the Restaurant’s Sous Chef.
Keller recently moved his family to Littleton from Memphis, Tennessee and hopes to introduce a bit of “Southern Hospitality” while still keeping with the historic New England traditions. Keller recently stated that his goal is to have The Beal House Inn known as a comfortable place where people can come, be treated properly and at an affordable price.
The Inn and Restaurant have been redecorated with new colors, lighting and fabric in the Restaurant plus an addition of a beautiful Baby Grande Piano in the Piano Bar. Keller, an avid antique collector, has added some of his personal pieces to the Inn and Restaurant which nicely compliment the existing old and new pieces in the Inn. Future plans include gradually renovating the gracious guest rooms, exterior painting and landscaping.
Joel and Cathy Bedor, longtime Littleton residents with an interest in historic preservation, purchased the property in October of 2008 after a bank foreclosure. They immediately made some needed improvements, hired Imrie, former InnKeeper at The Bretton Arms in Twin Mountain, and re-opened The Inn for lodging only. They contacted Peabody & Smith Realty Commercial and subsequently hired them to search for a new owner for this treasured landmark property.
The Beal House Inn has been a Littleton landmark since the mid 1800s. This eight room bed and breakfast has won many awards over the years, including a four star review from the Union Leader’s “Our Gourmet”, and the North American Restaurant Association’s “Award of Excellence”. Other awards include the 2000 Yankee Magazine Editor's Pick, and the Inn was highlighted in USA Today and the Boston Globe. Locally, it has always been a popular favorite with year round residents and tourists.
Peabody & Smith Realty Commercial with Broker Associate Mary Doherty represented the sellers, Joel and Cathy Bedor, and assisted the buyer, David Keller, in this transaction.
